Mary K. Keenan is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from George Mason University, certification as a School Psychologist, and advanced training in Comprehensive Family Therapy.
Ms. Keenan was a psychologist for twenty three years in Fairfax County Public Schools where she served elementary, middle and secondary schools. The majority of her services were provided to special education students and their families.
In the last several years Ms Keenan has provided services in the private sector where she specializes in working with children, adolescents and their families to resolve relationship problems including parenting issues, school related problems, (including ADHD, Learning Disabilities) social difficulties and couple’s relationship problems. Treating mood disorders, anger management, anxiety and depression are areas of focus as well.
Ms. Keenan has extensive training and experience in leading social skills groups for children and adolescents as well as support groups for adults.
Ms. Keenan uses an eclectic approach to treatment centered on the importance of developing a strong relationship with each client and an understanding of the individual needs of that particular client. Ms. Keenan focuses on the development of the whole individual exploring strengths to facilitate growth and healing in each individual.
