Roberta Logwood holds a BA in psychology from George Washington University and a Masters of Social Work from Catholic University School of Social Services. She is licensed by the Virginia Board of Social Work to practice clinical social work and is a member of NASW, EMDRIA and the Greater Washington Society of Clinical Social Workers.
For more than twenty-five years, she has provided therapeutic counseling to those whose lives have been disrupted by:
* depression and anxiety disorders
* grief, loss, complicated bereavement
* the effects of trauma, abuse, violence or neglect
* relationship problems, marital conflict, divorce
* family dysfunction
* diminished self esteem
* ineffective communication
* the challenges of aging
* critical illness, chronic pain
She has received training in divorce mediation, facilitated support groups for professionals involved in end-of-life services, presented to parent-education groups in the metropolitan area, and served as expert witness in child custody cases in VA and MD. She received advanced training in EMDR, an innovative therapeutic technique for trauma reduction and affect regulation, and has experience working with gay and lesbian clients, individually and couples.
Before joining the Counseling Center of Fairfax in 2002, she worked at Tri-County Youth Services (1983-1985) and with Dr. Phyllis Daen at the Virginia Psychological Institute (1986-2002)
