Erica M. Wood, MA, LPC, MT-BC joined The Counseling Center of Fairfax after working for Fairfax County Public Schools as a special educator. She worked in a self-contained setting with children in grades K-6 who were found eligible for special education services because of an emotional disability or autism. In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor, Erica is a Board Certified Music Therapist and a Virginia Licensed Teacher in Elementary Education PreK-6 and K-12 Instrumental Music.
Erica earned her Master's Degree from Lesley University in Expressive Therapy and Mental Health Counseling and her Bachelor's Degree from Heidelberg College in Elementary Education. She offers individual counseling for children with developmental disabilities, emotional and behavioral disabilities, and Autism as well as providing special education advocacy and help with school issues. She also works with parents to help them best meet their children's needs. Erica uses creative arts techniques in sessions as well as traditional therapy practices. She also provides developmental music therapy that focuses on IEP goals in a musical therapeutic setting.
Erica is a member of The American Counseling Association, The Association for Creativity in Counseling, and the National Board for Certified Counselors.
